The direct and hopeful humanity of this music is a necessary breath of fresh air in today’s difficult and clouded times.

As in thrall to traditional craft as to cutting edge tech, The Newcomer, relays memories of “a powerful vision of a world; the reflection of it’s makers... a feeling of true belonging”. The tracks somehow speaking to early folk and traditional musics and our oncoming unknown future simultaneously. All of this is audible in the scuffed electronics that recall Aphex Twin’s most delicate moments along with the skittering rhythms of Fela Kuti, the crisp melodic figures of Steve Reich and the bit-crushed majesty of Fennesz.

An incredibly tender collection, the release is imbued with a deep emotional charge that reaches out and envelops like a prehistoric scrawl lit up in holographic neon.
